The only thing that worries me is that if Reinert *really* believe that EVs are crap, he will make sure that the Rav4 EV is a failure. We see this at Microsoft all the time (Kin phone anyone?). Some managers sabotage their own company just to say they were right.

If Toyota are stupid enough to put an anti-EV person in charge of an important EV project, they deserve to lose market shares to Nissan, GM and Tesla.

I think it's fairly obvious once the LEAF begins to dominate the market that large format pouch cells are the superior way to build these batteries.

6,800 batteries, 13,000 fuses, large cooling systems. It's all a bit much when you can pay a little more for a lighter pouch cells that have almost zero internal resistance, and don't require such extensive monitoring.
